The Financial Intelligence System (FIN INT) continuously monitors the funding horizon for marine conservation and restoration: it detects opportunities, assesses them against the association's lines of work, and accompanies them through to submission.
A proactive funding radar
FIN INT provides two capabilities that case-by-case response does not cover: a proactive radar that detects opportunities without needing a prior project, and a cross-cutting analysis that maps each opportunity against all lines of work and pillars at once.
The system turns the search for funding —usually scattered and reactive— into ordered, traceable monitoring, aligned with SeaWilding's priority of promoting funding mechanisms for active marine restoration.
An opportunity's status is its location.
Each opportunity exists in a single location; its progress is materialised by moving it between folders and is recorded in the history. There is no parallel database: the status is inferred from the file system itself.
From detection to award
Closing at any point —discarded, rejected, expired or executed— archives the opportunity centrally. Every transition between states requires human approval, except those declared routine.
The monitoring, every Thursday
Once a week, the system goes through the archive, inventories opportunities by status and produces the dashboard, the alerts and the weekly report —with a native notification on completion.
Radar
Periodic web monitoring that detects new calls and opportunities, without needing a prior project.
Cross-cutting research
Maps each opportunity against all project lines and the association's pillars at once.
Call-terms detector
Identifies the publication of a call's terms and triggers its detailed analysis.
New opportunities
Adds detected opportunities not yet linked to a project to the catalogue.
Multichannel reporter
Generates the dashboard, the alerts and the weekly report, and distributes them through internal channels.
A queryable, encrypted dashboard
In addition to its internal channels, the system publishes its dashboard on a confidential site, accessible only by authorised institutional accounts.
