§01What it is
KNOWLEDGE HUB

A queryable institutional memory

The Ocean Knowledge Hub is the integrated set of documentation infrastructure, policies and institutional memory with which SeaWilding produces, verifies, archives and maintains its documentation. The acronym designates the central knowledge repository (vault) —the centralised memory, built with a wiki structure and links— but in its broad sense it encompasses the entire working system that sustains it.

Each document links to the others and forms a navigable knowledge graph: an idea, a source or a project can be consulted from any point. Knowledge is not scattered between sessions or people, but accumulates, is versioned and remains traceable to its origin, connecting science, law, economics and culture to reveal synergies between projects.

Technology · does not depend on a single app
Markdown + wikiAll documentation in plain text interconnected through internal links.
ObsidianKnowledge repository (vault) with a navigable graph and plugins for bases, templates and diagrams.
VS Code · workspaceThe local working folder as the single source of truth, editable directly.
SynchronisationReplication between desktop and mobile (Obsidian Sync) and a shared copy on Google Drive.
Crossref · DOI.orgEmpirical verification of citations and bibliographic references.
§02Functions
04 FUNCTIONS

Four operational functions

Centralise

Brings together institutional knowledge in a single, interconnected memory that can be consulted from any working session.

Govern

Orders documentary production with defined workflows and human validation points: no document is accepted as final without review.

Trace

Ensures that every piece of data is traceable to its source, through a cross-cutting principle of reliability.

Preserve

Maintains the coherence, naming and versioning of the documentation over time.

511 EXTERNAL RECORDS

The distribution
of knowledge

The repository's 511 external records are distributed across four stages —Records → Pillars → Topics → Methods—, where each record is counted once per stage according to its main tag.

03 DIMENSIONS

Why it matters

Credibility

By requiring verifiable evidence and traceable citations, the system upholds scientific rigour and institutional credibility before funders, partners and the scientific community.

Continuity

The centralised memory and the interconnected knowledge graph preserve institutional knowledge regardless of the session or person, avoiding dispersion.

Consilient efficiency

By consulting existing knowledge before producing, and connecting science, law, economics and culture, it speeds up document generation and reveals synergies between projects.
